Just a reminder:  The Library will be closed both New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.  We re-open on Thursday at 1 pm. If you would like to "weigh in" on any aspect of the Comprehensive Plan, please post a message on the Discussion Board, or send an email directly to Village Manager Steve Jones at sjones@lagrangepark.org. You are also encouraged to attend the Comprehensive Plan public hearing scheduled for Wednesday, January 15 at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be conducted at the La Grange Park Village Hall. Apparently a company called Bandlink is selling a technology to CD manufacturers which causes CDs to 'phone-home' when played in a personal computer. Unfortunately the story on Slashdot.org isn't specific about which manufacturers are doing this. Even worse is the fact that, other than a small logo on the CD cover, there is no notification to the consumer. I have heard of click-thru agreements allowing this kind of thing, but no notification at all? This just screams 'Class-Action' suit." [Lockergnome's Bits and Bytes] I wonder what the company will make of one of these CDs being circulated by a library and the resulting "phone-homes?"
