First Annual 4th - 8th Grade Poetry Contest

Our first annual poetry contest was a great success. 35 poems were received. Our Young Adult librarian Samantha Farruggia, and our Children's librarian, Meb Ingold have produced a booklet of all the poems. You can pick up a copy at the Library.

Art Exhibit

Did you know the Library currently has an Art Exhibit on the second floor? Members of the La Grange Park Art Support Group are displaying their work through April 30th . Tonight there is a "Meet the Artists" reception from 5-7pm.

Book Sale

The final numbers are in and the Friends of the Library Book Sale made $9277.00. Yes, that really is nine thousand dollars. Its the largest amount they've ever collected.

The Friends of the Library, especially Jane and Jerry Reavley, put in alot of hard work to make each sale a success. Stop and say Thank You the next time you see them.

The January Bibliography is ready. This month we're focusing on Genealogy - "Enriching Lives with Ancestral Ties". Stop by and pick up a copy from the display.

We are also planning a series of genealogy programs. The first one "Genealogy at the Library" is scheduled for February 10th at 7:30 pm. The Adult Services Staff will be discussing resources available at tje Library.

Book Sale

This weekend is our Friends of the Library Book Sale. It will run Saturday and Sunday (Jan 11 & 12) from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

There is a Member's PreSale on Saturday Morning from 9:00am to 10:00pm.

Next Monday (Jan. 13) evening brings the first program of the New Year. Michael Smith of T.Rowe Price will present "Constructing an Effective Investment Portfolio" at 7:30 pm

On Tuesday Jan. 14, local author Mike Huth will read portions of his book Under the Orioles Nest and speak about the steps he took to publish the book at 7:00 pm

Don't forget your public library also accepts donations. The La Grange Park Library's Holiday Gift Fund campaign in now in progress. You can donate a book to the library in honor of a loved one.

“Enriching Lives with Ancestral Ties”

The La Grange Park Library has been awarded a LSTA grant from the Illinois State Library to present a series of programs about how to trace your family history. The programs will cover Internet and traditional resources. Our first program is set for Monday, February 10. Watch for information about future programs.
