In the very near future, suicide among teens has become an epidemic of such mass proportions that the only solution to this horrible situation is The Program. Monitored carefully for depression or mood change, those under 18 live in fear of being torn from their lives and placed in a facility where they’re subjected to the removal of their most cherished memories. People they know and love can become unrecognizable once The Program is finished with them. Sloane and her friends keep up the pretense of happiness until one by one they all start succumbing to their sadness. And one by one they all face The Program, one way or another.
This is an excellent addition to the YA dystopian genre that is so popular now. With a more realistic setting, The Program is sure to give you chills. This is the first in a two book series.
