In January, I put a suggestion box in the YA Department in order to get your ideas for programming, books, snacks, etc., and it is has been going like gangbusters*! My responses to your suggestions are posted below, but you can also find them on the purple board right as you walk into the YA Department.
*Apparently, I grew up in the 1930s.
Suggestion: Lending out iPads just for teens.
Response: I actually have an iPad2 that you can pick up at the Reference Desk. It has some games installed (Plants vs Zombies, Robot Unicorn Attack, and most recently, Minecraft Pocket Edition). You’ll just need a current library card with access to unfiltered internet, and you’re good to go! The iPad2 is for use in the Library only.
Suggestion: Love chairs.
Response: This sounds so cozy, but, unfortunately, I just don’t think I can get another piece of furniture in the YA area.
Suggestion: Love stories. Sad love stories. (Two different suggestions).
Response: I created a list of loves stories (both sad and happy) that you can pick up in the YA Department. But you should always feel free to ask me for recommendations because I love love love talking about books (and video games and music and movies).
Suggestion: Culture night.
Response: This sounds intriguing! I’d love to hear more about this so that I could make this program happen.
Suggestion: Get a TV to display good recommendations.
Response: Excellent idea! I don’t have a TV, so I am using a digital photo frame instead, which is sitting on the YA Desk in the YA Department.
Suggestion: The Walking Dead comic book series.
Response: This series is located in the Adult Graphic Novel collection, which is just an aisle over from the DVDs.
Thank you for all your suggestions!
