Friends of the Library
The Friends are people of all ages who are interested in supporting the La Grange Park Library.
What Do Members Do?
Members provide financial support to the Library through their yearly membership dues and Friends Bookshop sales and offer volunteer support by staffing the Bookshop. Members are not required to volunteer.
What is the Bookshop?
The Friends Bookshop sells donated books, magazines, DVDs, and VHS tapes at modest prices and donates any unsold materials to community institutions.
The Shop is staffed entirely by approximately 25 dedicated volunteers. The hours are generally the same as the Library hours; however, please call ahead (708-352-0100) to make sure the Shop is open.
We offer a wide selection of books in most genres. Be sure to check out our Collectibles Collection. Donations come in frequently, and you never know what will come in, so stop by often!
We accept gently used materials and are glad to offer a donation receipt if requested. Please do not drop off damaged items.
What Have the Friends Provided for the Library?
Many of the free programs offered by the Library are funded by the Friends, especially the Children’s Summer Reading Program. We have also provided funds for the Young Adult Department, sculptural tree in the Children’s Department, computers, shelving, storage equipment, and many items not covered by the Library’s operating budget.
When and Where do the Friends Meet?
Meetings are the second Tuesday of February, May, August, and November at 7 p.m. in the second floor Conference Room.
