Let’s Discuss Copyright Law . . . with Wolves!
Who owns an idea? When is the use of someone else’s idea considered “fair use” and when is it not? Where the U.S. court system is concerned, the process for answering these questions has never been cut and dried; and it has only gotten more complicated since the information age has made the flow of ideas too fast for the law to keep up. Nowhere else, in recent history, has this been better demonstrated than the 2019 Omegaverse lawsuit: a copyright claim that became semi-famous throughout the Covid-stricken internet of 2020, not just for reaching federal court but for involving a a very niche subgenre of erotic fiction called Omegaverse (i.e. wolf erotica). We will be attempting to untangle the drama over honey bacon, brie and walnut flatbread.
