On behalf of the Board of Library Trustees, the Library would like to thank Dixie Conkis for her 37 years of dedicated service as Executive Director

The Library announces that Dixie Conkis has moved on from her position as Executive Director. Dixie’s achievements during her years at the Library’s helm are many and include:

  • ·         Shepherding the Library into the electronic era and Internet Age by establishing services to include ebooks, Audiobooks, Music, Movies, public computers, Pixel Club and the LibAnywhere app for patrons’ phones and tablets.
  • ·         Delivering programs to encourage reading and Library visits by patrons of all ages, experiences and interests.
  • ·         Ensuring that the Library cared for fragile members of our community by overseeing the construction of accessible entrances and facilities, fostering efforts to send Thank You Cards to Veterans, and offering homebound delivery to patrons permanently or temporarily confined to their homes.
  • ·         Bringing Library patrons access to the world’s largest repository of genealogical records.
  • ·         Making the Library an important civic center staffed with voter registrars and notaries public.
  • ·         Creating a Library in which people are proud to volunteer services to the tune of nearly 2,500 hours every six months.
  • ·         Fine tuning the Library’s collection while making reading accessible to the needy through regular donations of pruned items to The Reading Tree, a non-profit organization that supports literacy programs and delivers books to those without resources to access them.

The Library wishes Dixie all the best. If you have questions, please contact Lynn Elam, the Interim Executive Director.
