The La Grange Park Public Library is seeking a Circulation Assistant to join our team. This person is responsible for welcoming patrons in person and via the phone, assisting the public at the circulation desk, shelving library materials, and performing clerical duties. Reports to the Circulation Coordinator. Evening and weekend work is required. This is a part-time, non-exempt position starting at $15.66 per hour.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

• Assists patrons in the circulation of library materials
• Answers the telephone and routes calls to appropriate department
• Registers patrons for library cards
• Answers patrons’ directional questions; refers reference questions to the appropriate department
• Assists patrons with general questions on public computers and online catalog
• Shelves and shelf reads library materials and shifts materials as directed
• Performs collection maintenance using weekly, monthly, and other reports as required
• Monitors patron use of main level areas
• Responsible for opening and closing procedures
• Attends relevant meetings, classes, and training
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Ability to sort both numerically and alphabetically, understands the importance of accuracy

Qualifications

The La Grange Park Public Library is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to join our team. This is a full-time position with vacation, sick leave, paid holidays, and IMRF.

 

The Facilities Coordinator will perform general maintenance work, set up tables and chairs for programs, and perform routine building repairs and cleaning to keep our library looking nice. The ideal candidate is someone equally adept at providing customer service and able to work independently.

 

This is a non-exempt position involving responsibilities for facility maintenance and ensuring the library building is a safe, welcoming environment. Reports to the Executive Director. Evening and weekend work may be required. This position is for 37.5 hours per week, starting at $19.05 per hour.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Regularly monitors and maintains the library’s building structure, systems, and grounds
  • Performs custodial and janitorial tasks throughout the building and on the library grounds
  • Performs meeting room set up and take down
  • Communicates with outside vendors to schedule routine maintenance and inspections
  • Prepares proposals for purchase of maintenance/repair services as well as equipment and furnishings
  • Operates building machinery and equipment utilizing safety precautions
  • Creates and maintains safety and facility manuals
  • Updates capital replacement plan
  • Performs snow removal and grounds maintenance, in all weather conditions, as needed
  • Maintains written emergency procedures and suggests improvements as needed
  • Maintains building supply inventories and keeps janitorial supplies stocked
  • Attends relevant meetings, workshops, and training classes
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see, stand, walk, climb, sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear regularly to successfully perform all duties
  • Ability to reach, push, lift, and carry heavy containers (up to 75 pounds) during a work shift
  • Ability to move furniture, change light bulbs, utilize manual tools, power tools, and custodial equipment, climb ladders and stairs, carry trash, and shovel snow in various weather conditions
  • Toleration of exposure to nontoxic fumes, airborne particles, outdoor allergens, and cleaning chemicals
  • Toleration of exposure to differing temperatures internally and externally

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of custodial work experience preferred
  • Building maintenance experience in skilled trades preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and appropriate auto insurance
  • Local Travel on behalf of the library
