Let Books Be Banned Books Challenge
Let Books Be. Protect the Freedom to Read.
Books are for everyone. Books should be read. Books should be uncensored. Together, we can protect the freedom to read. We must Let Books Be. This year’s Banned Books Week theme reminds us that no one has the right to decide what we can and cannot read. That choice is ours and we must protect that choice for ourselves, as well as others.
Choose from our lists of recommended titles or find a banned book on your own. You can even spend some time researching censorship at https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks. All the reading you do counts!
Log your reading time to earn badges throughout the challenge. Read 2 hours to be entered into a drawing for a $30 gift card to New Book Joy and a spiffy tote bag celebrating the freedom to read! Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a bookmark and sticker. If you submit a review for a banned or challenged book, you will receive a special prize! Stop by the library to check in and pick up your goodies.
Banned Books Week runs from October 4-10, 2026 but you have all of October to complete this challenge!
Join the challenge on the Beanstack website or app starting October 1 and log all your reading by October 31.
