Read for Your Rights Banned Books Challenge

Join us in celebrating our freedom to read with this year’s Read for Your Rights Banned Books Challenge!

Choose from our lists of recommended titles or find a banned book on your own. You can even spend some time researching censorship at https://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks. All the reading you do counts!

Log your reading time to earn badges throughout the challenge. Read 2 hours to be entered into a drawing for a $30 gift card to Barbara’s Bookstore and a spiffy tote bag celebrating the freedom to read! Logging is done on the Beanstack website or app. If you have used Beanstack in the past, your login information is the same.

Everyone who completes the challenge will receive a bookmark and sticker.

This year, if you submit a review for a banned or challenged book, you will receive a special prize! Stop by the library to check in and pick up your goodies.

Banned Books Week runs from October 5-11, 2025 but you have all of October to complete this challenge!
